After the sudden resignation of Anandiben Patel, first women CM of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani will be the next Chief Minister of Gujarat. Nitin Patel will be deputy chief minister of Gujarat. On Sunday, 7th August, 2016, the oath ceremony will take place.
Vijay Rupani who is also serving as a party president of Gujarat state, Nitin Patel are two frontrunners for the next CM. BJP party President, Amit Shah had finally picked Vijay Rupani as a next Chief Minister of Gujarat. Amit Shah had also finalized Nitin Patel as a next deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat.
Vijay Rupani is the current state president of BJP. He had also served as a minister for transport, water supply, labor and employment. Vijay Rupani was elected an MLA in 2014 from Rajkot West seat. Vajubhai Vala was the former MLA from that seat but he became Karnataka Goveror and the seat was won by Vijay Rupani. Vijay Rupani also have wide acceptance among party members.
On the 1st August, 2016 CM Anandiben Patel had offered her resignation. After her resignation there were rumors that Amit Shah will be the next CM of Gujarat. Even RSS wished Amit Shah return homeland as a CM. But on the Wednesday, Venkaiah Naidu has cleared all the air and said Amit Shah will continue as a party president and he won’t be the next CM of Gujarat. On Wednesday, Anandiben Patel tendered her resignation to Governor OP Kohli, and it was accepted by the parliamentary board of BJP.
