Digital India’s smart Driving with DigiLocker

That’s true, now you don’t need to keep your driving license and vehicle registration certificates while driving. No traffic police will fine while finding you driving without license or Registration Certificate. You only need is to keep a copy of your documents in DigiLocker. Traffic Police or other competent authority can verify your documents from DigiLocker.

Ministry of Transport, India has arranged a system to keep a safe copy of driving license and registration certificate with DigiLocker. Current Union Minister holding Law and Justice and Ministry of information Technology, India, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad has inaugurated this new scheme with Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping at Transport Bhawan.

What is DigiLocker?

DigiLocker-A Digital India Initiative is Government of India’s cloud based platform for issuance and verification of documents and certificates digitally. DigiLocker provides a facility to store digitally all your important documents at single place. Using this facility, we can store PAN Card, Passport, Mark sheet and Degree Certificates etc. important documents at single place safely. You just need is to create an account at the official website of DigiLocker @ https://digilocker.gov.in/. Only Aadhar card and Mobile number is require for signup, and then you can upload all your important documents at My Certification Section.

After implementation of this new arrangements, the verification of Driving License or Registration Certification will be quick and easy at any place. The authorized person only required a mobile app to verify these documents. This application must be installed in mobile phones of person who is driving the vehicle as well as the person who is authorized to verify the documents. This mobile app also a facility to give penalty if anyone found guilty.

How to Register with DigiLocker?

To register with DigiLocker is very easy, all you need is your mobile number and Aadhar Card.

App will send an OPT (One-time Password) followed by selecting a username and password to authenticate mobile number and this will also create your DigiLocker account. Once your DigiLocker account is successfully created, you can voluntarily provide your Aadhaar Number (issued by UIDAI) to avail additional services.
