Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel expressed her wish of retirement from Chief Minister and requested the BJP leadership to relieve her as she is going to be 75 soon.
Anandiben Patel becomes the first woman chief minister of Gujarat after taking charge on 22nd May, 2014 as Mr. Narendra Modi took charge as the Prime Minister of India. In the Next year, Assembly Elections are going to place in Gujarat and Anandiben Patel wants to give enough time to CM candidate to prepare for the next election. She has written on her Facebook that next year, in 2017, Assemble Election are going to place in Gujarat, and also Vibrant Gujarat Summit will be held in January 2017 which take place in every two years. She wants to give enough time to next Chief Minister candidate to prepare for them. She has praised Mr. Narendra Modi for his faith in her. She also added “For the last some time there has been a tradition in the party that those who attain the age of 75, voluntarily retires from the post. I will attain the age of 75 in November.”
“Two months ago I had requested the party to relieve me from the post and today also through this letter, I request the party to relieve me of the post,” Patel said.
“I am asking the party to relieve me two months in advance as the new chief minister will require the time to work when the state is going to face elections in 2017 and an important event like Vibrant Gujarat Summit to be held in January,” Patel said.
“It (the rule of 75) is a good thing and it will give a chance to young leaders to come up,” she added.
She had thanked to BJP leadership for giving opportunities for different important responsibilities. She had also thanked for trusting her for capable for Chief Minister of Gujarat.
Meanwhile BJP president Amit Shah said that Anandiben Patel has offered to resign and he will place her letter before Parliamentary Board which will take the final decision.
Anandiben Patel had to face the quota agitation of Patel community and recently, Dalip uprising after Una trashing incident that has damaged the image of party in the state.
