Islamic preacher Zakir Naik has filed a defamation sue of 500 crores against TimesNow Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami and alleged that the news anchor ran a “hate campaign” and “media trial” against him. Zakir Naik had already spoken against a media trial running against him.
Zakir Naik’s lawyer Mubin Solkar has issued the notice to Arnab Goswami claiming unconditional apology and 500 crores and claimed that news anchor has “hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslim community which revers Dr. Naik and holds him in high esteem.” The notice also alleged for “promoting disharmony and feeling of hatred… between different religious groups”. His lawyer, Mubin Solkar has also issued a notice to Mumbai bureau chief Megha Prasad and chief executive officer Avinash Kaul, Times Global Broadcasting and its CEO, Sunil Lulla. Zakir Naik had said that he is not coming to India this year and also said that he has served defamation on ten media houses.
Recently after terrorist attack at cafe in Dhaka, Bangladesh has already banned his TV channel Peace TV. Home Ministry of India has also set up to scan the activities of Muslim preacher Zakir Naik. The funding of Islamic Research Foundation is also being investigated.
